A diverse, non-partisan group of business leaders, the Alki Foundation is the political arm of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, that works to build a more effective government in the Seattle area. The Alki Foundation conducts evaluation and recommendation processes of candidates running for office in Seattle City Council, King County Council, Seattle School board, and Port of Seattle commission. Along with the candidate evaluations, the Alki Foundation connects candidates with the business community. In evaluating candidates, the Alki Foundation considers three key criteria: knowledge of the economy and how local government can impact it, understanding of the issues confronting our region, and ability to get elected and serve effectively in office. Alki Foundation's assessments are based upon candidates’ responses to a written survey, interviews with Alki Board members, and professional work and community service. The Alki Foundation is fully engaged in the Chamber's mission promoting a healthy and vibrant business climate in the Greater Seattle/King County area. Formed in 1984, The Alki Foundation continues to be a leading voice in the region on business and political issues. Alki Foundation Board Members come from a variety of backgrounds and areas of expertise, ranging from small business owners to executives, to former elected officials, just to name a few.
